This painted red art glass depression era bowl is painted on the outside on the sides. It is probably ruby stain (what some call ruby flash). This type of finish is painted on then baked in a kiln. Ruby stain is not as durable as Ruby flash, so there will always be scratches and missing paint on them. There are frosted flowers etched, engraved into the sides. It also has some raised fan shaped designs around the foot of the bowl. These designs are repeated in the scalloped edge of the bowl. The paint has an iridescent sheen to it, which can be seen in the photo I took of the bottom of the bowl. The center of the bowl is clear.
There is very minor wear to the paint on the bowl. No chips or scratches in the glass itself. It measures 13 inches in diameter x 3 1/2 inches across.
