This is a nice bridge set from Piatnic, Vienna mint, in box. Made in Austria. Comes in a cardboard box. On the front of the box is a manufacturer's sticker of a shield with a man on a horse in a circle with the words PIATNIK WIEN at the bottom of the shield. Three cards, a club, a heart, and a spade, are shown over the top of the shield. The inside of the box shows the man on a horse again and the words PIATNIK VIENNA and Made in Austria. These have no copyright date on them, which leads me to think these may have been manufactured before copyrighting was instituted.
The cards feature images of famous people of Europe on the face cards.
The Kings are: Karl II-Schweden (Hearts), Josef II (Diamonds), Louis IV Le Roi Soliel (The Sun King)Clubs, Fredrick Der Grosse (Spades).
The Queens are: Maria Antionette (Hearts), Maria Theresia (Diamonds), Madame Pompadour (Clubs), Katherina II (Spades).
The Jacks are: Axel Von Ferson (Hearts), Graf Kaunitz (Diamonds), Marlborough (Clubs), and Heinrich Graf Von Bruhl (Spades).
The cards are beautifully rendered as shown by my pictures. The box is a little scuffed up. A wonderful addition to any collection.
