Vintage gold tone collar clip or collar holder, marked Anson. In excellent condition. The spring is really tight. Measures 2 1/2" long x 3/8" at the widest part of the clip x 1/8" wide at the front.

Anson Inc., started out as Anderson Tool and Die Co. in Providence, RI. After WWII, they started making men's jewelry. The name was changed to Anson, Inc. in 1948. They added women's jewelry in 1967. Anson jewelry was sold in The Tiffany Company department stores and can still be found there.
Anson, Inc. declared bankruptcy in Oct. 1983, was foreclosed on by Fleet National Bank & Fleet Credit Corporation, then sold to C & J Jewelery who continues to use the Anson trademark and designs today.
